Eggs Eggs Eggs

I apologize for not writing as much lately, we have been really busy, and have been trying to work on selling several hogs. So for the past several months our egg production has been down, we thought it was due to the heat, as we were also losing 3-5 hens a week. As we did more research, we found that a certian feed we were buying and had been for over a year, was actually being found to poison chickens. They had continuously found mold and other dangerous items for hens. I called our supplier and asked if they had hear of this, and also if the feed contents had been changed, they said no. The feed the last time was a different color and texture, they again said no, no changes. Over the last 18 months or so, we had spent close to $8000.00 there, we we're their largest buy and carry customers for quite some time. So we sought to find a better food product for our hens and our hogs. Which we have found. We went from 19 eggs a day last week to now getting 45+ a day. Today we have had 56 so far. The feed is really a high quality and the hens seem to like it a lot more. The feed we feed our sale hogs is a high quality show pig feed. Again, no additives, non GMO, blended feed. This may not sound like a huge deal to many of you, but to us it really is. As all of our egg sales supports our feed costs, which in turn lowers our hog feed costs out of pocket, which provides a lower price for the Hogs we sell to you, our customer. We aren't in this to get rich, we do it, because we like it, and can continuously teach our children something new, as well as provide higher quality meat to the public. As always, thank you for reading and supporting our family farm.
