Well sprinkled. We have been waiting on rain for roughly three weeks. Between last night and this afternoon we may have gotten a 10th of an inch. But, it did rain.
Last night as we watched radar, it literally took a sharp left at 1400rd, which is 170 ft from our driveway, then stayed due east til past our property line and then turned south. It was amazing to watch and hear, as it was a heavy down pour, but nothing but a sprinkle last night and tonight.
The cooler weather was a welcomed relief, the hens we're more active and production was slightly better. We're hoping tomorrow shows a huge improvement before the heat returns.
Went to the city today, ran errands and expected to pick up one of our two vehicles, instead, we got the news the ford might be tomorrow or might be next week, however, the suburban will be done tomorrow. Actually it's done now, but we didn't want to mess with rush hour traffic, and we're taking a delivery of eggs and chickens to a friend tomorrow as well as taking the kids to the Deeanna Rose Farmstead for a day of relaxation fir them.
We have several pumpkins growing, one of the blue ones and several large ones (500lbs +).
Cucumbers, zucchinis, squash, potatoes, cantaloupe, are all still growing, as well as the coriander and other herbs.
This day was a tough day for the WYANDOTTE COUNTY SHERIFFS office as they laid to rest two of their own that were shot and killed last Friday. I watched the service on television, and remembered back to when just two years ago the Kckpd lost two of their own. While the shooter in each of these cases gets to live.
I worked a little bit on the other business, and helped finalize a deal with a client and friend next month. Slowly but surely I am getting back into the daily grind of the office.
Tonight for dinner we are having homemade taco pizza, the hardest part is waiting for the dough to be ready to cook. So within a half hour we can finally cook our dinner.
As always, thank you for reading and supporting our family farm.
Please keep in mind the families of Patrick Rohrer and Theresa King, and the Wyandotte county sheriff's department staff.
