Good evening readers and followers, today like any day had it's high points and low points, happy and sad, then the WTH just to annoy us.
First the happy part, my sassy, beautiful, snarky redheaded daughter turned 7 today, and you can bet she's let everyone know.
The first words out of her mouth this morning was can we bake cookies, can I bake my own cake, when can we go to the store, can I have some money, in that order.
So they did their chores, then baked cookies, watched a movie, then we went to the store. As we speak, the 3, and 11 year old are helping her bake her cake.
Around 10am, I carried our sweet Ringo into the house and made him a bed, trying to comfort him in his final hour of life. I was hoping he'd wait until tomorrow, but he passed peacefully, sleeping while Bailey and Zachary sang him songs, while petting him. I say, I don't get attached to the farm animals, but Ringo was like my dog, he'd follow me everywhere, and talk back to me when I called his name. He was gentle to the children, and protective of his hens. Ringo was the stand out of the farm, and he will be greatly missed.
Today's WTH moment was just that, we we're driving to the store in the vehicle we just bought, and the air conditioning stopped working, it's 99 here, so it didn't take long for it to get hot. I dropped the family off at the store then spent two hours away, at the dealership getting a loaner so it could be fixed, although it started working again on the way there, I didn't chance it, and went ahead and dropped it off.
Lastly, last night's blog was written, knowing the other officer Theresa King had passed, but, because the news agencies hadn't released her name, who was I to do so. A friend of mine is one of her good friends and had told me earlier in the night. Today, as I was at the dealership, a group of motorcycle officers, highway patrol and Wyandotte county sheriff's patrol cars came through with a solid black Dodge van, I knew who it was, and where they were going as everyone else asked. It was saddening to know that the 15 people there had no idea, or didn't care to know.
As always thank you for reading my blog and supporting our family farm.
Father's have a wonderful Father's Day, I will return on Monday evening.
