Highs and lows

Today had it's highs and lows. Started at 6am, due to having physical therapy, and today started muscle strengthening of the right shoulder. It was horrible.

I arrived back home, we got the children ready to go, loaded into the car, and we'll, I ran over a chicken. Not just a clean over the top, no, complete explosion of chicken insides everywhere. Of course the kids see it, and of course they reacted. The low of the day.

We picked up the processed chickens from the farm that does that for us, and while paying the tab, I noticed this gigantic chicken egg, well an entire cooler full of them, where the tops of the cartons didn't even close. So, I had to find these chickens. We bought 21 of them, they should start laying in about 3 months. Which buying them completed the rotation of flocks, and will phase out the DeKalb whites, ISA browns and a few others.

These jumbo eggs will sell for $3.75/ dozen, and are larger than the turkey eggs we get.

We noticed after picking up the processed chickens, that the weight is slightly less than what I had previously said. Therefore, we are changing the price. Rather than selling them for a flat 16.50 each, we have decided to sell them for $2.45/lb. We have 10 available, and they range from 3.42/lbs to 6.50lbs.

Plus a $2.00 delivery fee to Kansas City.

Egg production was slightly better today, 28. But not nearly as high as I'd like it to be.

Nothing else to report or mention today. Other than this one small thing. A very good friend of mine has opened her food truck in the West Bottoms of Kansas City. 2 fish 5 loaves, please look her up on Facebook or Instagram. Karen Throckmorton is an awesome chef, and just a delight to work with, and her food is amazing.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting our family farm.
