Never enough time in the day

As this day winds down, the rain hitting the windows from all directions, the children, camped out on different couches in our living room, I finally have time to have a thought all to myself.

We begin every day at 7am, morning feedings, for all 119 animals, 4 children and if luckily enough ourselves by 10am.

Mending fences, planting crops, collecting eggs, working the website, answering phones, homeschooling, networking, paying bills, serving lunch, booking contracting jobs, closing moving jobs, recommending businesses for others that need assistance, doing laundry, collecting eggs, driving 45 minutes in either direction for groceries, gas, feed for the animals. Maybe a 4pm lunch, then mowing the grass, collecting more eggs, finding a moment to catch your breath.

People often say, farming is a slower pace, and easier way of life.

Nothing compared to the hustle and bustle of city living. That is far from the truth.

Often times we finally finish cooking dinner somewhere near 9-10pm, then as most people are getting ready for bed, or catching the news, we are then doing our night feedings, bathes,  putting kids into bed or having them camp out with me in the living room, because this is their just daddy and kids time, due to recent shoulder surgery, I cannot sleep in bed, I have to sleep in a recliner. Finding time, to just be dad or an hour to just be mom is always surrounded by, let's go for a walk and check for eggs, let's put the baby goat back in the run, or why don't you come help me plant, or clean the coop. Our children enjoy farm life, because they don't know anything different.

I hope we're teaching them the values of living, loving and family, a good work ethic and something to be proud of, because, if not, why are we doing this? Are these the things they want as children? Are they proud of what we do, as they do it to.

The sun needs to rise at 4am and set at 11pm, just so we can enjoy it just a little more.

There's just never enough time during the day.

Thank you as always for reading.
